Is there an easy way to check a vehicle's production information?

Basically what it says on the title. I’m looking for a way to check up on a TYPE of vehicle. Stuff like production numbers for trim levels, colours and so on.

Because I am curious. There is no actual purpose behind this.

Compnine used to do it for free, but I dunno if they are still that way.

You could search up “VIN Lookup” on Google.

Depends on what kind of car, look for “[brand name] VIN decoder”.

Calling the customer service line of the manufacturer might get you somewhere.

But I don’t want a VIN lookup, I want production numbers. EG, how many 2014 Corvette Stingrays were produced in Lime Rock Green with the track package? (that one’s getting a bit specific, but you get the idea)

I can't figure out what to use to search for it. Anything that makes sense to me just returns ordinary VIN decoders. I thought someone around here might know a way.

Not after a VIN decoder, I'm after general information re production numbers for models, not individual vehicles.

But phones are gross.

That's not a bad idea, actually.

If it’s a GM vehicle then Compnine will get you exactly what you are looking for. I think you can get 5 build sheets for $5. Here is an example of a report I ran for my brothers old C6 Corvette showing build date and how many cars were built with the same options.

See my reply to pjhusa - Now has FM6!

I have my build sheet.

EDIT: never mind. I see that's what you were replying to

Ahh, got it. That’s a little trickier but maybe someone from GM can help. Try Customer Care. I know they have posted similar numbers for other cars before:

Actually, I think you basically got what I was after, I just didn't realize it. I'll check customer care too.
